First Recruit Joins HandyHelp

Dane Wick has become the first jobseeker to join the HandyHelp London team, having completed his Induction with Clean Slate and training as a painter and decorator with Thames Reach’s MIMO course.

Dane, who lives in Lambeth, has also completed a ‘Video CV’ with help from recruitment company CV Channel. In it, he demonstrates some of the reasons HandyHelp was keen to appoint him as a founding member of the team.

Clean Slate Managing Director said: “When we first met, Dane wasn’t entirely sure what he wanted to do and had to sort out some health issues, which he’s now well on top of. By completing the Clean Slate Induction, he’s proved he means business about finding work and by attending the training laid on by Thames Reach, we know he’s a safe pair of hands to send out on painting and decorating jobs. Nice work, Dane.”

HandyHelp is a joint venture with DHI and was piloted in Bath. Support from the Homelessness Transition Fund has led to its roll out to London, plans to recruit 14 more workers over 2014, using Clean Slate’s recruitment services to primarily take on people at risk of homelessness. HandyHelp provides painting/ decorating, basic repairs and maintenance, cleaning and gardening service to domestic customers, landlords and commercial companies.
