Bath appeal – combating poverty in communities
Clean Slate has launched a new appeal marking the first year anniversary of its windfall donation from the congregation of Bath Abbey at Easter 2010.
Pledges of £20,000 were raised in just 90 seconds during the Easter sermon last year, growing to £25,000 as donations were received. A new walk-in centre for long-term unemployed people was opened in Monmouth Street, central Bath, as a result. The centre worked with over one hundred people while open just two days a week, many of whom had histories of homelessness, offending or mental ill-health. In October, Clean Slate won funding from Bath & North East Somerset to open 2 days outreach to Keynsham and Midsomer Norton.
